Update Jan 4 2011

Things are coming along very nicely. I have made it through a complete round of P90X and met with sucess.

Starting out at 245lbs I am now currently 189lbs. 56 pounds lighter and feeling GREAT.

this ski season has been fantastic being in shape for a change. has made a world of difference.

Round two of P90X is now under way.

Ans the bikes for my ride? One is currently in the build process and the other is on a ups truck.

I hate to say it but I am more excited to get on my bike and ride right now than I am to get back up to the ski hill. but I am being careful to not put the bike trailer in front of the bike if you know what I mean. Good timing and careful dedicated preparation are the things that must happen in order for my plans to meet with success.

have a great day,

P90x / bike ride update

Ok so its past the 60 day mark and yoga still stinks but overall p90x WORKS.

I have now lost 50 lbs and certainly dont miss it at all. I feel better than ever and have had a fantastic early season on the snow. So I have begun more prep for the marathon ride. I really hope to get this done this summer and will be planning for it again some time closer to the end of August or beginning of September. One of the bike is nearing completion and I have yet to purchase the second but I will have that one in the gates sometime after christmas. Once that happens I will continue with another 90 days of p90x and add some riding on the indoor trainer in the evenings.

Thats all for now we will see you on the slopes.

Youthful Optimistic Grunt-filled Asskickery....aka YOGA

P90X is some pretty intense workouts six days a week, most of them are right around 45 min. but we get to enjoy YOGA X for one and half hours. Now the last few weeks I would hardly call enjoyable but I went through the motions anyway. So, up until today my YOGA X experience has been simply tortuous. Today was the day it turned around. I can say that its because I am getting in better shape but I don't believe its that simple with Yoga. I spent the day mentally preparing myself for this afternoons workout. And it paid off. Looking back on my previous Yoga days I realized that the first few days were miserable because I was new at this game and out of shape. So consequently I then tried to tackle each Yoga day with a preconceived notion in my mind that I would be just plain miserable. Guess what ? ....... it worked, I was miserable. So today I chose to remain positive throughout the day and tried my best to clear my mind of all the junk I had to do, didn't do, will have to do etc. and to my surprise it really helped me breath and focus trough the workout and reap the benefits of Yoga.

So YOGA

Youthful
It will bring a spring to your step if you allow it to
Optimistic
One is always hoping that they make it through the workout
Grunt-filled
Just try some twisting half moons or right angle reach through, or the crane or.....without a grunt or two
Asskickery
Who in the hell thought this stuff up any way. "Just float your right heel into the sky..."

Have an eXcellent day

Still on track

Ok, so its been a little while since my last report. Hell, I am going to need to read my last report after this so I know where I have been. I do know where I am at now which it 217 lbs and still shedding the weight. Feels like a long ways from 245. When I started this whole thing I was shooting for 195 which seemed a bit optimistic if I do say so myself but at this point I see reaching that and possibly even going further in my fitness game. I am not sure it I will reach my goal weight before Christmas but it is going to be close and it will be attainable before the end of this winter for sure. It will definitely be nice to hop on the bike fit and at least 50 lbs lighter. Now that I think about it a bit its going to be nice this winter as well. This is the first time EVER that I have actually done any kind of conditioning before ski season. I should be able to hit the slopes hard and fast this season so the rest of you better start getting ready.

that's all for now

have an eXcellent day

another week gone...

Ok so the week 2 workouts had their own share of ups and downs. I did feel better during most of the workouts and did perform a bit better during some of the harder exercises. Getting overconfident and a little anxious to push results bit me in the butt a little bit. I pulled both hamstrings on Friday during my legs and back routine which made the rest of that workout suffer big time and now I am struggling to catch up so I am on par with the 90 day schedule. I di the stretch program in place of my Kenpo workout on Saturday thinking that it would get me back on track for Kenpo Sunday. Sunday brought stiffer legs and more tender hamstrings so here I am Monday trying to double-up on workouts...Kenpo in the morning and Core Synergistics this afternoon all the while trying to prepare for my first round of graveyard shifts at the mill.

so Kenpo is done and I am resting feasting and trying to regain energy for this afternoon. I have a couple rifles to sight in and then I will get my lunch for tonight all ready to go. The plan is to pump through core syn late afternoon and then get some sleep waking up at 11:00 pm in order to head of to work for the midnight to 8 am graveyard shift.

have an eXcellent day

Begining of week 2

Ok so all the boring details of the workouts that you guys read last week are going to be pretty much the same this week. However, there are changes in the works. First off I will be doing the same schedule of workouts for the next two weeks....than it changes with a recovery week....then changes again with three weeks of a whole new schedule repeating some well.....blah blah blah. If you want to more about it give me a holler and I will let you know.

the exciting changes are in how I feel and my performance during the workouts. This is the first round of repeat performances on the workout and i noticed that i did a few more push-ups and used some heavier weights and stuck in on some of the hard workouts from last monday...if you remember I believe i mentioned that some were just awful. (still didnt get any dreya rolls)

Any how the result of this is that I want to try harder each workout so I can beat and exceed my performances in the last one...its a beautiful thing. At this point though I am pasted tired from a long day in the sun at work and a killer workout so I will say adios amigos!!

have an eXcellent day

A little history...............

I started this blog to chronicle the events that were taking place as I prepared for a uber bike ride from my Montana home to the parents home in Boise Idaho. Over 500 miles and I was just gonna hope on the bike and go. I soon realized that I could ride like I used to in high school anymore. I was riding 25 to 50 miles daily and lived on my bike. So when I thought this little harebrained idea up I went out found a road bike and started crunching away some miles. That hurt. I realized that the riding I had done was long before I had discovered beer and whiskey. So 15+ years later I decided to leave the beer and whiskey behind and to complete this bike ride but I have come to realize I need to do some things to get into better shape in order to have the "snowballs chance" of completing this journey.

That is where P90X comes into play. With a friend of mine bringing it to my attention just weeks before my sister did I realized it must be time to make some changes. With two people in the mix and ready to get X like I decide to join. Now we were three. I then took the next step and started in on the diet and Melanie convinced Nathan to join about the same time I convinced Jennifer to join in on the fun. Now we are five. So I have got my little support group and we are all working on working out and working harder. (see the theme?) This program is HARD WORK, and just what I need to get lighter so I don't have to haul so much rolling resistance around while I am on the bike next summer.

This is an amazing program and has already made me feel great. I relish the sore spots and tired muscles and each day keep coming back for more. So come along and follow us with our journey, hell join in if you feel like but be aware we wont let anyone slide so you better be ready to

BRING IT!!!!

have an eXcellent day
