Begining of week 2

Ok so all the boring details of the workouts that you guys read last week are going to be pretty much the same this week. However, there are changes in the works. First off I will be doing the same schedule of workouts for the next two weeks....than it changes with a recovery week....then changes again with three weeks of a whole new schedule repeating some well.....blah blah blah. If you want to more about it give me a holler and I will let you know.

the exciting changes are in how I feel and my performance during the workouts. This is the first round of repeat performances on the workout and i noticed that i did a few more push-ups and used some heavier weights and stuck in on some of the hard workouts from last monday...if you remember I believe i mentioned that some were just awful. (still didnt get any dreya rolls)

Any how the result of this is that I want to try harder each workout so I can beat and exceed my performances in the last one...its a beautiful thing. At this point though I am pasted tired from a long day in the sun at work and a killer workout so I will say adios amigos!!

have an eXcellent day

A little history...............

I started this blog to chronicle the events that were taking place as I prepared for a uber bike ride from my Montana home to the parents home in Boise Idaho. Over 500 miles and I was just gonna hope on the bike and go. I soon realized that I could ride like I used to in high school anymore. I was riding 25 to 50 miles daily and lived on my bike. So when I thought this little harebrained idea up I went out found a road bike and started crunching away some miles. That hurt. I realized that the riding I had done was long before I had discovered beer and whiskey. So 15+ years later I decided to leave the beer and whiskey behind and to complete this bike ride but I have come to realize I need to do some things to get into better shape in order to have the "snowballs chance" of completing this journey.

That is where P90X comes into play. With a friend of mine bringing it to my attention just weeks before my sister did I realized it must be time to make some changes. With two people in the mix and ready to get X like I decide to join. Now we were three. I then took the next step and started in on the diet and Melanie convinced Nathan to join about the same time I convinced Jennifer to join in on the fun. Now we are five. So I have got my little support group and we are all working on working out and working harder. (see the theme?) This program is HARD WORK, and just what I need to get lighter so I don't have to haul so much rolling resistance around while I am on the bike next summer.

This is an amazing program and has already made me feel great. I relish the sore spots and tired muscles and each day keep coming back for more. So come along and follow us with our journey, hell join in if you feel like but be aware we wont let anyone slide so you better be ready to

BRING IT!!!!

One week down and I still want to workout ..huh...

Ok, so I pushed through yesterdays workout with some reluctance. I still had the embarrassing performance of YogaX fresh in the back of my mind while pushing and pulling through the legs, back and ARX. Today during the warm up I realized i worked pretty hard during legs and back as I had some serous soreness and some difficulty performing the warm up moves. One thing is certain any graduate of the p90X program is gonna be an expert in runners stretches and the crescent pose.

Halfway through KenpoX I started yelling right along with Tony and the rest of the crew without feeling like a schmuck. Today was a perfect end to the week with a fast high energy sweat it out workout. I may even do it again with my wife when she does her session this evening, we will see.

So one week down and I have had ups and down but still have the resolve to keep pushing play. I actually am looking forward to Core Synergistics on Monday. Wednesdays will be a challenge both in the physical and mental department for a while but I feel that each time we push play we get a little better, stronger, faster.

So I am gonna keep bringing it,

Have an eXcellent day

Day five of P90x ...

Legs and Back workout with ab-ripper-x

Ok day five was much better that the shock of YogaX. I am feeling like I got a good workout today and will jump right into tomorrows workout in which I have been looking forward to KenpoX.

My work schedule changed and I did my workout in the evening rather than morning today and I think this is much better for me. When I am working the swing shift I eat breakfast and wait a while workout and eat lunch. but then I end up eating every two to three hours after that all the way up until midnight. I think that is way to many calories but Sundays weigh in will tell me more.

Unfortunately the work schedule may permanently change again we are facing layoffs at the mill because the mine that was sending us ore just got shut down by MSHA. (not only shut down but slapped with a $250,000 fine) No big deal just need to find 193 ounces of gold and that will be paid off.

Along with this workout program and new healthy foods lifestyle I am trying to adopt I have begun a regimen of Mrs. Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. Two tablespoons with some agave nectar and hot water once in the morning and once again in the evening. My main reasoning behind this concoction is to rid my self of heartburn. As a heartburn remedy it has worked for mom so I am giving it a try. I sometimes think that mom has a mind over matter superpower and she can will herself into anything working for her so we will see if it works out for me in the same way. On the other hand the ACV is supposed to have a plethora of additional health benefits to go along with it and really once you get used to it (the first few cups are pretty nasty and give you ragin heartburn) its not that bad.

Tomorrow will bring a fun workout along with some ski tunes, gun work and a few trips into the woods for firewood. Anybody that's interested can come along for the ride, just get ready to bring it.

Have an eXcellent Day

Yoga X.......Yo ga na hate this X

If anyone is looking for a workout that makes them feel as if they have no hope of ever getting into shape try some yoga.

I thought yoga was supposed to calm you down. All I did was yell back at the T.V. as if the instructor could hear me. "Screw that and screw you dude. I can't do that. Like my arm can bend that way. More vinyassas holy crap." You get the picture.

On the bright side of things no more yoga until next wednesday then I get to get frustrated and angry all over again.

Had more to bring...

It was shoulders and arms today. As it was the first time I had done this workout I was a bit confused on what weights to use and how to do the exercises exactly so I lost a bit in the translation so to speak. So in turn I didn't quite get the hard core burn in the arms I was looking for. However I feel ready and amped to burn through that workout next time and really make the arms and shoulders sing.

Today was a two part workout with abripperx following the arms. I feel that it should be renamed to ab-I invented this workout to kill you-ripper-x. HOLY COW. it was shorter than I had expected but it kicks your butt. I will be slowing down on that one next time and trying to improve on my form rather than pump out reps its a crazy little ab workout for sure.

have an excellent day

It was a sleeper workout.....took me by suprise

Compared to Core Synergystics, Cardio X was looking like a pleasant easy workout. However, its alter ego soon emerged about halfway through and then the sweat started pouring away. To start off with I know I need some serious practice on the yoga moves, THEY HURT ME. After that we went into a nice brisk series of kenpo moves that were fun and got ya movin' for sure. It was there that I thought "Wow I feel great this is going to be a fun workout". It was shortly after that thought the sleeper decided to wake up, pick up the pace, and kick my butt. It was bam bam bam a series of plyo exercises one after the next and then all over again and I started drippin' with sweat. IT WAS GREAT.

I was still sore from core syn. the day before which contributes to the lack of form on the yoga moves in the beginning of the workout but that will improve with time. Tomorrow is shoulders and arms which will be a good workout and begin putting some of my equipment to work but after that is a dreaded bout with the AbRipper X. I have watched some of this video and its going to be painful but "no pain no gain" right. Its gonna hurt but its gonna be worth it.

Wow.....Core Synergistics.....woW

Ok so Core Syn was a bear for me. I made it all the way through and even recorded my reps and weights like a good kid. Well for the most part. I did write down that I sucked at a few of the exercises like bow to boat, Plank to chaturanga, walking push ups, and the dreya roll. I did, even to my own amazement, attempt the bonus round. The plank to Chaturanaga ISO HURT, the Halfback kept the sweat in my eyes, and the Table leg raise well we are gonna keep adding reps to that one in the coming weeks.

But I feel great now and want to get some more....but the rest of the day is for concentrating on my diet, my work schedule, and making sure I get proper rest for cardio x tomorrow.

For the next two weeks I should be in good shape to get my workouts scheduled and have the time needed to prepare the proper foods and the like. I have been switched to second shift at the gold mill so I will be working from 4:00 to Midnight and then pumping in eight hours of rest before a 9:30 or 10:00 workout. Should be doable for the most part as I have decided to commit to this program I only get one rest day a week for the next 90 days.

One of the biggest motivators here is that I am not doing this alone. Jennifer is working out right along with me and Nathan and Melanie (Jen-wife, Nathan-Brother, Melanie-sister, for those that don't know) are starting their one respective versions of p90x today as well. So in 90 days you will have 4 more people to watch out for as we pass you on our bikes, skis, running shoes etc. you get the idea.

Thats All For Now

later and don't forget to BRING IT in all that you do.

Scott

On the eve of day one....p90xLean.....

Ok, well I suppose I will start of by saying I have been studying the fit guide and nutrition guides for the p90x workout for about a month now. I have purchased everything from food scales to dumbells, cleaned out the fridge and cupboards and remodeled a room in the house to begin my personal p90x transformation.

The first and formost positive effect of p90x has been the fact that I have lost over 10 pounds just getting ready for this workout. When I began eating healthier and doing some of the bonus workouts that came with the package I had a "light-bulb in the brain" "ding" epiphany type moment. This is not a workout, this is not a quick fix or lose weight fast, this is not a one time deal. This is a lifestyle, lifetime, quality of life change, and you have to want IT if you are gonna even get close to bringin' IT.

AND I WANT IT.

I just completed the fit test and some areas of my results suprised me while other areas didn't suprise me as much as they challenged me. I can't wait to come back in 90 days and ace out a few more pull ups or smash the amount of pushups I can do, maybe sit on the wall for twice the amount of time if not more.

And that's what p90x is doing for me in every part of my life right now. Want it, push it, bring it. Everywhere I go I have this Tony Horton voice in the back of my head telling me to push a little harder, stay a little longer, feel the burn and love it. This is it and I am not looking back from here on out. Its all about living better and feeling better which is just plain better.

I titled this "on the eve of day one" because that is simply what it is. What is harder for some to understand and oh so not simple is that this is also the end of what was. I am comfortable walking away from junk food and double double cheesburgers because currently I cant wait to get at my apple a day and a killer kick my ass workout that makes me feel ALIVE.

See ya next time

Scott

P.S.

These are copies of my blogs written on the Team Beachbody website. I decided to post them here in order to keep my motivation and enthusiasm going for the next 90 days in order to become a graduate of the program. This is also some pretty serious cross training in order to get in shape for the upcoming ski season and the following bike season. Yes the bike ride is still on the list of things I must do.
